Today was such a beautiful day I couldn’t help myself at all. I got everything ready and set out in advance so that I wouldn’t forget anything as I was so excited! After getting into the new REDINGTON Gear; CPX waders, CPX wading boots, Stratus II Wading Jacket, and the new CPX Switch rod, and Rise Reel.I felt good, well as good as can be expected while having another asshole hanging around me 24/7, so I headed out the door and headed to a few easy access spots to try my luck, and really to just enjoy the day on the river since my last outing was December 2nd of last year.
Getting to my spot I noticed a couple anglers in each direction so I placed my stuff down and set up the tripod for the video camera, and SOB if I didn’t leave it in the truck! So I left my rod, rod tube, chest pack and jacket by the water and headed back to the truck. Well of course it can’t be that easy!
It wasn’t! The camera was sitting in my office right next to my cell phone! Great! So I head back to my gear, so that it doesn’t walk away and said to hell with it! I came to fish and so I did! From 10am to 12:30 without so much as a sucker to play with, I decided to head home since I didn’t feel like hitting some other holes.
When I walked in the door I saw my camera sitting right next to my cell phone ringing off the hook. As I said before, the day was beautiful, and I let out a small laugh and mumbled something about amnesia or Alzheimer’s to myself, and my dogs yelled at me, reminding me it’s time to feed them, again!
I did get to talk to several anglers before I left, and they all had the same thing to say; "not much action at all."
Maybe we just need some more rain, and another push of fish, or something? Or maybe because I forgot my camera?! That’s it! When I bring it, I always catch other people catching fish, and I always catch chrome myself! So that’s what it was, Karma! That’s what I get for being absent minded and leaving the camera at home. So I will continue with the review process after my process, and who knows?
The river was perfect today, except for the milky silt stain which kept visibility to no more than 6-8 inches. Temps were 35 degrees in the water, 58 outside and the flow was 220cfs with wall to wall sunshine!
